Switzerland is a member of the Schengen area and is surrounded by Schengen states. Direct entry to Switzerland by land from a non-Schengen state is not possible. Similarly, it is not possible to travel by land directly to a non-Schengen state from Switzerland. The borders between Switzerland and its neighbours are Schengen internal borders.
Switzerland’s external Schengen borders are located at designated airports and airfields within the country. Direct entry to or exit from a non-Schengen country is only possible through these airports and airfields.
